School Skills
School Skills is Gymboree International Preschool İzmir’s most comprehensive preschool preparation program. Designed for children aged 2–6 years, this program supports the transition to primary school in a natural, enjoyable, and confident manner.
The program addresses early literacy, numerical thinking, attention, fine motor skills, and social-emotional development in a balanced way. The class structure, which repeats daily but is enriched with different content every week, provides children with both routine and novelty.
In every class:
Gathering Time: Children take turns speaking, engage in conversations that expand their vocabulary, and participate in short routines that support self-regulation.
Language & Sound Activities: Language awareness is developed through letter-sound recognition, rhymes, tracing exercises, and early writing activities.
Math & Thinking Stations: Logical thinking is supported through counting, shape recognition, pattern creation, sequencing, and problem-solving games.
Discovery Corner: Curiosity is strengthened by following the steps of “predict – observe – discover” through simple experiments.
Free Play Centers: Children choose centers based on their interests, share their games, and reinforce their social skills.
Show & Share: At the end of each class, they present what they have learned, use language actively, and receive appreciation for their efforts.
The program is conducted with small groups where teachers can attend to each child individually, a rich variety of materials, and a child-centered classroom layout.
The goal is not only for children to be ready for school but to step forward as confident, happy individuals who are curious about learning.
